Career counselors serve an important role in developing students’ career interests and job placement after college, and the South Dakota Association of College Career Centers (SDACCC) regard this role as vital to student success. To ensure that all career counselors are working together for the betterment the workforce as a whole, the nearly 20 member educational institutions of SDACCC meet regularly to share best practices and to strategize how to best serve the students that they represent.

At their spring conference on May 29-31, SDACCC invited Denise Guzzetta, Vice President of Talent and Workforce Development for the Sioux Falls Development Foundation, to serve as the keynote speaker. Over the course of two presentations at the conference, which was held at South Dakota State University in Brookings, S.D., Guzzetta shared key information on human resources trends for college graduates who are applying for jobs, as well as an interactive discussion on leading a multi-generational workforce.

“The career counselors and advisors are critical to workforce success in the greater Sioux Falls area, as this is the largest group of influencers that support talent in our state,” Guzzetta said. “These influencers support and develop the talent here in their diverse capacities, from curriculum development to academic advising and corporate development. Ultimately, we want the students that are developed through our colleges, universities and technical institutes here in South Dakota to stay here, and these representatives are crucial in achieving that goal.”
